This September saw the most catastrophic flooding the Southern Tier has ever experienced. Over $35 million in damage in the city of Binghamton alone -- only some of which will be taken care of by FEMA. 20,000 families displaced, 8,000 claims filed for financial aid, hundreds were without power for weeks and dozens left homeless or with destroyed businesses. Hardly a shred of national media attention for the cause. The place we called our second home for so many years needs our help.

Fueled by a strong, Jewish identity and anchored by thumping beatbox, intricate arrangements, and soulful harmonies, Six13 is a six-man vocal band that brings an unprecedented style of Jewish music to the stage. With songs ranging from hip-hop dance tracks to rock anthems, the members of the New York-based group sound like a full band – while using nothing but their voices.

Six13 has recorded four award-winning albums, whose songs have been played all over Jewish radio and been chosen to appear on nine different “best of” compilation albums. The group has over 20,000 CDs in circulation, and are among the top Jewish music artists on iTunes. They have received several distinctions and accolades from Jewish organizations like the National Council of Young Israel and Moment Magazine, and awards from musical organizations like the Harmony Sweepstakes and the Contemporary A Cappella Society of America. They have appeared on the Chabad Telethon, and were chosen from hundreds of groups, both Jewish and secular, as finalists in the casting process for NBC’s hit prime-time television series The Sing-Off. The group has also become a viral internet sensation, with over one million views on YouTube.

Six13 tours worldwide to rave reviews and standing ovations. Recent highlights include the Salute to Israel Parade, the North American Jewish Choral Festival, and six appearances at Jewish Heritage Days for major league sports teams, including Shea Stadium, Citi Field and Madison Square Garden in New York, and Dolphin Stadium in Florida. Each year, the group visits dozens of Jewish communities, providing entertainment appropriate for Shabbat or any other day of the week at congregations, religious schools, JCCs, fundraising events, B’nai Mitzvah and private affairs alike.

Kaskeset is Binghamton University’s Jewish a cappella group. The group was founded in 1996 as an offshoot of Hillel/JSU on campus. Since then, the group has become one of the premier Jewish singing troupes.

  • In 2010 Kaskeset became the first Jewish contemporary group in the world to advance to the semi finals of the International Collegiate A Cappella
  • CARA (Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award) for our recording of “Mima’amakim” on The Teal Album.
  • The group has toured in Florida, Boston, District of Columbia, California and more.

All of our songs are done a cappella, meaning song without accompaniment, instruments or otherwise. The group sings four to fourteen-part harmonies, with intricate musical arrangements to create a "vocal band" ambiance with the sound of an actual band using only the human voice and body. The style is unique from any other you will experience.

Our members come from all over the country and from different Jewish backgrounds. What brings us together three times a week is our love for Jewish singing.
