AND SPEAKING OF SUNDAY...

ADVERTISEMENTS AND SPONSORSHIPS

We are accepting general sponsorships, and advertisements for inclusion in the event program. Click here for details.

SELLING STUFF

Groups will be provided a space in which to sell their CDs and other merchandise. Because there will be multiple groups selling copies of various volumes of the Best of Jewish A Cappella series, we ask that all groups sell those CDs at the same price of $15. You are welcome to sell your own CDs at whatever price you choose, and JAF does not take a commission on any proceeds. PLEASE NOTE: any group whose members disparage other groups or attempt to impinge on other groups’ sales in any other way will be barred from participation in the following year’s events.

TECH

Hebrew Union College's gorgeous facility will be outfitted with a state-of-the-art sound setup by Marty Gasper of 2Dog Creative, who is second-to-none for live a cappella sound production, with personnel actively operating sound at all times. The event is run by seasoned a cappella performers and sound technicians. No getting up at the crack of dawn just to wait around for a sound check -- our team will have the best possible configuration ready to go when you take the stage, and will mix you live for the duration of the performance.

Equipment setup which will be provided:

  • Two wired, area microphones to pick up an ensemble / background singers no matter how large or how far apart they're spaced

  • Six wireless microphones with stands -- set up and EQ'd for lead vocalists, vocal percussionist and/or bass

  • Wedge monitors suspended from the boards for crystal-clear hearing

If you should have more specific needs, e-mail us -- we'll see what we can do.

OTHER STUFF

  • Registration is first-come-first-served. Should more groups apply than can be accommodated, the participants will be selected by random draw.

  • Please be aware that there will be no designated area for groups to “hang out”, rehearse or warm up on Sunday – so we suggest you make arrangements, either with one of your hosts or otherwise, for a place to do so before the call if you need to!

  • Performance time will be divided up evenly among the participating groups. We'll contact you to let you know how much time each group is getting to perform once the lineup is finalized, but we anticipate at least 10 minutes per group.

  • The official way to say the abbreviated name of this festival is "jaff". Though some prefer to say "jay ay eff", while others simply refer to it as "Best Weekend Ever".

  • For more information, you can write to info@jafest.org.

  • We can't wait to have you!
